Tan The Safer Way By Using A Spray Tan

A lot of people love to have a sun kissed tone. Some say it makes them look skinnier. Some say it makes their muscle look toned. Whichever the reason behind it, majority would go to the beach, their backyards or wherever they can be exposed and go sunbathing, just to achieve the bronzed look they want. There are many of downsides when it comes to sunbathing though; hence a spray tan started being a popular alternative for sun tanning.

Back in the sixties, skin cancer has been popularly linked to sun tanning. Besides that, sunbathing can cause premature wrinkling and sagging of the skin. But people will not have to worry about it because spray tan also well known as sunless tanning or UV-free tan, revolutionized the way people can get their skins to look just like they went under the sun to bake. You can have the same results as going under the sun, without the harmful damage the sun could cause.

Spray tans have dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as its active ingredient. This causes a chemical reaction when sprayed, with the amino acid of your skins dead layer, on its outer surface. The tan color is temporary since it fades as your skins outer layer sloughs off. Usually lasts for five to ten days. Though at-home airbrush tanning kits are available, there are airbrushing booths where you can seek help from the professionals.

DHA is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved for cosmetic use. It is considered to be nontoxic and noncarcinogenic, hence generally safe to use. It is one, if not the safest way to get a sun kissed glow. American Academy of Dermatology recommends using spray tanning to disguise the debilitating effect of vitiligo, a disorder that causes depigmentation of patches over the patients skin.

Spray tanners are simple to use if you remember to follow directions written in the package to ensure effectivity and best results. Noticeable outcome starts just within an hour, and the finished glow is achieved within eight hours or so, definitely sooner than a full day of sunbathing. It also gives you a constant smooth tan coloring and the power to choose how dark you want it to be.

Here are some tips for better results of sunless tanning. It is recommended that you wash your skin first with something that can exfoliate to get rid of excess dead skin cells, to make end results more even looking. Do your application lightly, sparing dry thickened skin areas such as elbows, knees and ankles. Ask for help for hard to reach areas. Wash your hands afterwards with soap, so as not to discolor your palms. Lastly, apply some on the top of your hands.

There is a price to beauty as everyone knows. But a spray tan, is one of the easiest, cheapest and safest way to go, if you want your skin tan to have a perfect glow.
