Smallville Series Finale Revealed By Tom Welling

The Smallville series finale is now set in stone. The Smallville series finale was just announced to be part of Smallville’s 10th season on the air.

The 10th season of Smallville will begin this fall on CW, and it will create a countdown to not just an eventful season finale, but the series finale for the entire show.

This could be both good and bad news for fans, with it being a negative that the show is coming to an end, but a positive at the same time that writers and fans alike will know exactly when the show is coming to its conclusion. The best thing this can provide is closure for the series, and now the writers are free to create some very dramatic episodes to wrap up one of the longest running series’ on television right now.

The announcement that Smallville is ending just came from Tom Welling, who wasn’t supposed to let the information slip just yet, but told the press on Tuesday evening. It was expected that news like this would come out when the CW released their final fall 2010 schedule, and that would have been announced on Thursday, May 20th. Welling is of course the star of the show (Clark Kent), who has been with the show since 2001 when it debuted on the WB.

The lead actor will finish out a 10th season of the show before officially moving on to other projects. He has done a film here and there, but through the time that Smallville has been on the air, he has dedicated quite a lot of time to the 200+ episodes they have aired.

This has been a very successful run for Smallville on CW, a show which has worked hard to build the mythology of Superman by telling the story of his life before he actually started donning the suit and cape. It has created a lot of interesting new wrinkles to the story as well as giving an origins story for not just Superman, but many of the supporting characters that were first made famous in the comic books.

Welling has been great in this role for the last nine years, and now fans will have one more season to enjoy Smallville as the countdown begins to the series finale in the spring.
